Is this real jazz?
It’s lofi with jazz in it. The 23 tracks on the jazz list are the Purrple Cat tracks where jazz, saxophone or trumpet clearly come through. Every other track still shows its chord colour (how much jazz harmony it uses). It isn’t a live jazz band, and we don’t pretend it is.
How are the jazz tracks picked?
Every track is measured, not guessed. A track makes the list when it clearly sounds like jazz, or has a strong stretch of saxophone or trumpet. The chord-colour meter on each track shows how often its harmony fits a jazz chord (a 7th or 9th) better than a plain three-note chord.
Is it free?
Yes. Every track is free to stream in full and to download as an MP3. No account, no ads.
Can I use it in my videos or livestreams?
Yes, on social media and livestreams, with the credit “Music by Purrple Cat” and a link to purrplecat.com. It’s licensed CC BY 4.0 and it isn’t in Content ID.
Can I put it on Spotify or release a remix?
No. Please never upload the music to music streaming services, and don’t release remixes, samples or covers of it there. Those uploads cause false Content ID claims.
What’s an .m3u8 file?
A playlist file. Download a set and open it in VLC, foobar2000, Winamp or most music apps, and the whole set plays from the original files.
Is any of it made with AI?
No. Every track is composed and produced by Purrple Cat.
